God I need a girlfriend. In my whole life, I have never had what I would describe as a proper relationship and it is getting to the point where I am getting really down about it. My life has the same, boring, sad routine. My normal routine is: Get up > Read > Go to school > Go on the internet > Sleep. Or, at the weekends: Get up > Go on the internet > Sleep. The lack of variety or reason to live in my life is infuriating. I am torn between an insane longing for a relationship and a desire not to have one of the normal teen relationships that isn't worth shit. A lot of my mates have relationships that are based on the principle of "fkn fit" that I mentioned in one of the other threads. I am not even sure what I want from you guys about this. Just wanted to vent I guess.  |

Hey Tom, trust me you might not think it now but relationships aren't all they're cut out to be. You might be upset and angry now, but trust me love is so much more painful then that. If you're really in a proper relationship- unlike the ones you're mates seem to have- a lot of the time is spent worrying about trust, and almost scared of your feelings. Sometimes it's best to wait until you're older for everything like that, almost like putting off all that emotional pain I suppose.
But hey, maybe that's just me. But imo relationships really just cause more pain then before.

now from our conversation last night on msn, you want a girlfriend that will stick by you for a very long time, and not just one of those girlfriends you have for a week or 2 and you do loadsa dirty stuff together?
Well first off before you can do any of that you need to experience a relationship at it's best/or worst before you have any experience on the matter whatsoever. In order for you to find that girl you can spend a long relationship with, youhave to experience a relationship in order to be able to tell what girl is which. You can get good at observing relationships from the outside but when it comes to relationships on the inside you have no experience on the matter whatsover. This will leave you emotionally vulnerable in not knowing what to expect in different situations which causes people to break up and that causes broken hearts then you go through the whole "I will never love again" scene and in a week or 2 you have your next gf. It's the cycle Tom not much we can do about it. I'm going to suggest that you go out with someone and see how that goes to get a base of an experience of what a relationship can be like. Not all are the same and some are very surprising.
Some tips; what you wanna look out for is the change in person during a relationship. What you see before you go out to what you see when you go out (in terms of personality, don't make this dirty xD). You may not like this change in character but it's something you come to love. Although the shock stage or the surprise of it may last a little while, think nothing of it and remind yourself that you went out with this person for a reason. Reason being love.
If you ever come to a point in a relationship where your not sure what to do, I'm always free to talk. I have quite a lot of unfortunate "bad" as such, relationships which I can take the experience of the situations from and help you when it comes to yours.
Another thing you might want to keep in mind is the change in how you think. When you fall in love you find they are all you can think about and your concentration can decrease dramatically. Take me right, in those mock exams all I could think about was Kelly, so my concentration wasn't the best =P that and I was just plain bored and cba for exams altogether xD
The way you act will change aswell, you'll find you will become a lot more defensive over things and that you will grow a patience that you never knew you had.
Things you should know;
If she's upset, no matter how many times she says she doesn't want you to see her. She wants you to see her. Go see her.

last of all, the words "I love you" are not to be taken lightly, and although a lot of people at our age say it as if they would say anything else, those 3 words mean EVERYTHING. Only say it until you are absolutely sure =] There is nothing more sweet then a random moment and the words "I Love You" popping out. It's just lovely and it really does make you feel good =).
I can give you more advice etc but I'm sat with my gf at the moment =P so not using up all my time in this post lmao =D

You don't need a girlfriend, you have an Eilidh! Ten times better than any slut from England. But seriously, why do you need a girlfriend? Your ten times better than those boys at your school who go through 2 girls a week and then boast about how far they got with her, as a girl, I find their view of females degrading and down right idiotic. Never look for a girlfriend, never try and get one for the sake of having one. Wait until you find someone special enough for you.
Edit: And try getting a hobby to break your routine, take arisk, go belly dancing or something!

Richie, you're awesome, kay? Tom, I have a similar problem to you, but ask yourself: Would you rather be in a not meaningful relationship or none at all? I've learnt not to be bothered by it, just carry on living your life, and a gf will come. Like everyone, your actions are probably influenced by reactions, I am a prime example of this, it's not a good thing. Try and avoid being influenced by others reactions (ridicule from your peers). Or if you ever get in those conversations, either stray away from them, be honest or exaggerate, it's your choice really. Sorry can't really be of more help. |

i know what you mean by that.... i dont have a girlfriend as i choose not to because it avoids any upset and hurt afterwards, plus it means that you can just go off and do anything with anyone without your gf slapping you... as i found out ;D
