I'm 13. I have the odd stubby of beer, maybe every 2 or 3 months. My mates my age. He has a 16 year old step-brother who drinks like there's no tomorrow and sneaks stubbies in his shorts. He gives my mate a six pack to hide under his bed. Now what's wrong with this picture. These days, alchohol is so easy to get it's not funny. Here's a comment a person I know got on MySpace Come to eastern beach tomorow night at 8:00 Making a huge party heaps of people are already comming, There are no partys on tomorow so were making a huge one for everyone, Bring your own alcahole. COMEEEEEEEEEE.
Its going to be massive invite like collage creww and can you pease send a myspace bullitonn off it ilyyy pllease comeee, Apart from having shit all grammar I mean COME ON. We're 13-14, we're getting pissed in the middle of summer on a bloody beach filled with uni students on holidays, how long till some kid gets glassed, or stabbed or smashed up. It is way too easy to get plastered when you're a teenager these days.

I totally agree with you. It is really easy to get hold of alcohol at our age and this is what leads to all the violence that people are starting to associate with teenagers.
I find it outrageous that teens seem to think that you need to have alcohol at a party for it to be fun. Alcohol just makes you less aware of your surroundings and ensures that you look a dick; it doesn't make things any more fun. It is more fun when you know exactly what you are doing.
This isn't a problem as such, so I will move it to serious discussion.

I wouldn't even think about going. It shows just how clever the people arranging it are that they can't spell alcohol. I have an uncle that died because of drinking, all caused by too much at a young age, he became an alcoholic and passed away at 39. What a shit thing to do, so I have no intention to follow him.
And sorry, but another thing I dislike is slang terms for getting drunk. I see "getting plastered" as a stupid, and frankly pathetic term. I think the fact we can use slang to mean "drunk" is one of the reasons we have this problem, it's all too laid back.

You see teenagers casually using terms such as "getting smashed" or "going on the sesh". It just isn't right.

I may live a sheltered life, but I would have fuck all of a clue how to get hold of alcohol, I mean there's shitloads at parties and everyone else is loaded with the stuff, but I have no idea where they get it from. Though I know one kid who has a dad that will buy him a couple of crates to take to a party.

I'll sound snobby, but I live in a nice area of dorset and I know one person who has ever been drunk. I can't imagine living in a place where everybody can get alcohol oh tap.

Only one person? That is mad. Most of the people at my school get drunk regularly.

I've been hearing stories of cops going onto beaches and finding groups of 13-14yr old kids getting badly drunk. Cops have called their parents, and the parents have said "Oh, nah what's wrong with them having a bit of fun." Turns out most of the parents have given the kids the beer.

Yeah, I really don't see the point in getting drunk ever but at 13-14 it's seriously stupid. I really don't like alcohol probably because my Dad is what you may call an alcoholic and I have a friend whos father died last year from liver failure as a result of being an alcoholic so it really scares me. Drunk people in the street absoloutly terrify me. I don't know why but they do... When we used to hang around at the park at the beginning of this school year there was a group of my 'friends' who organised the 'harlem gangsta bloc party' in which they got LOADS of alcohol and got drunk at the park before going to sleepover a friend's house. Some of the only people who didn't want to go were me, Caolan and Charlie and we were immeadiedly called 'goodie goodies'. They all made fools of themselves...

Drinking a little bit of alcohol is fine, but you should never get to the point where you don't know what you are doing and end up making a complete and utter prick of yourself.

I have a different opinion, there is probably a house part once a month where i am, if that, and when i go (I don;t take alcohol, for the pure reason that i haven't the foggiest where to get it, although i reckon i could get served) I do however, get a little tipsy, not off my face, ever, because i hate loosing control of myself - but enough to have a good time. However, i am older then you lot (I assume? ) even though it's one or two years - it's enough to know how much you can and can not take. I also think that parents should give their children a little alcohol every so often, as to make sure it isn't seemed as banned, therefore it's not something that their child will see and think ''Oooh, mum would hate it if i drank that *glugs*'' which is what i have seen many of times (The times i have had to help people who are paralytic, i should be a paramedic ) The only other thing i disagree with, is that of that if you have alcohol there it's just the same amount of fun as when it's not there. In my opinion it just isn't the same - it makes you more relaxed, just as long as you have enough to be tipsy but not enough to be paralytic. Just my two pence

Just my two pence I think that's a fair point but the problem is as teenagers (I mean younger) a lot of people don't know when to stop so do end up having too much because a lot of them are too young and not mature enough to know when they're having too much.

Whilst I would never try and force my practices on anyone else, I have no desire to drink alcohol. At all. And spend ten minutes every Christmas & New Year explaining to my family that no, I would not like a glass of wine with my meal/to let the new year in.
I don't have any problem with other people drinking in moderation, sensibly, I cannot condone the current trend of binge drinking. I was quite surprised at my friend the other day. He text me at half-past eleven (pm) to say he was on his way with his brother to his brother's ex-uni for a reunion, complete with inordinate amounts of alcohol. =/
And I will make no comment on what age I consider it appropriate for people to start drinking as I don't believe age to be at all worthwhile for judging maturity and ability to make a reasoned decision.

I don't drink very often, and when I do, I don't drink loads. To be honest, I hate the taste of beer. Way too bitter in my opinion. I like whiskey, vodka etc. Though they tend to be more expensive, which could contribute to why I don't drink alot, ha.
