Personally, I believe that the media has brought kids up to act the way they do. Just to down on them later and take everything to blame and place it onto teenagers to save their own sorry ass'
This is a disgusting thing and only gives the media a story to write to keep people believing.
What are your thoughts?

I agree with you that the media only seek to make people's impression of teenagers worse.
It is sad and terrible that a large number of teenagers look at what the teenagers mentioned in the news do and think, "Wow! That is so cool. I should do that."

Right The Media:
The media is in my opinion the most important form of secondary socialization (What children learn their culture from) because it influences your choices and decisions on things such as branding. The media also reinforce gender socialization, which is the idea that boys and girls are separate within society, this is linked back to branding because the media would consider certain brands to be "girlie" for example and thus advertise them to girls. The idea that the media fuels the hype around certain issues is also true. I think what people sometimes forget is that while the media exist to inform, they also need a story. How much of the things you read in the papers is actually 100% true? Not much, I'd say, because there will be forms of bias, for example, differences in political opinion. Exaggeration and sensationalism is also present at times. Take as an example, the apparent rise in teenage knife crime. Teenagers have always been killed tbh. What makes this different is that it is getting more news coverage, so it seems like more of an epidemic. And of course people being people will believe what they see on the TV and read in the papers and will assume all teenagers are "out to get them". Yes, I know I'm making vast generalizations here, but the media do it all the time, highlighting my point.
Another example of the power of the media and a very important one for many of us. The internet. In the past few years the internet has been responsible for a massive change in social attitudes, because of the fact that people now have instant access to an large amount of information at the click of a button. There are obvious benefits to this, the ease of it all, the fact that it gives people new ideas and experiences (I'm thinking of all the wonderful people I wouldn't know if it wasn't for the internet). The internet allows people to communicate without any social barriers. Most people wouldn't know what to do without the internet these days.
There is a lot more I could write on the subject, and I'm considering doing my Sociology coursework on "How the media influences society". Think I'll be any good? xD

That is all very interesting and I agree with absolutely all of it.
If you did that as your coursework, you would easily keep up your A* standard.

Thanks, I wrote that at about 3am actually and it was much longer but I realized I was going into too much detail I think I will do that as my coursework piece. 2000 words on a subject of your choice. Perfect.
