jees dont be so hard on yourself... your not a physical mess, your just abit podgey... i dont enjoy doing weights or running or anything... what i enjoy is the results and the results is my motivation, not the activity itself... you just have to be patient and give it chance

yeah, im saying you need to give it more than a weeks chance... two months or so of a proper regime and if you seriously cant notice ANY difference then.. and only then should you think like that, and even then you should still keep trying

I love you no matter what you weigh m'dear. But if you do need to lose weight (I don't really know, having not met you in person) then it doesn't have to be a diet and an excersize ragime. It can be having an apple instead of a Mars Bar, it can be taking the stairs instead of the lift. I know I sound like an idiot, and I'm not uber-fit or skinny myself, but that's not whats important. What's important is that you could be healthy, happy and possibly look a bit better in some peoples eyes.

Ok all of you just please stfu for a moment here. Tom, your fine, it has nothing to do with you eating to much or not doing enough excersize. Your just built that way. I, by nature, am tall and skinny. You, are short and podgy. Thats how we came into this world. So don't blame yourself, it's your parents fault =] as so it is for all of our body shapes etc. Tom, if you want motivation to lose weight, the secret is to never say you like your body. Once you do that, trying to make it look better will be harder. I know you have willpower Tom, I know you have a lot of it. I know you, and your strong. Now I'm not going to just sit here and tell you how to get fit, but I am going to tell you that you can do it. You have the willpower, you know what you want, and what you want is in reach. You just have to reach for it, and if you can't reach for it. You can always look here, at your friends, who will kindly offer out a step up, or a step-ladder just so you can get that little bit further =] Keep strong Tom, your doing great =)

You sound like a phciastrist Tom, "It all began with your parents"... LOL!
But what you say is true, we are all built differently. I am short but quite wee, my friend is short but round, Philip is tall and lean... but that's just life. Mothy, you are an ah-may-zing person, and if you really want to acheive something, you can do it. And any of us here will happily help out along the way. =]

i was trying to get accros what tom said in that post, but i think i did things in the wrong order so he stopped paying as much attention to what else i had to say =P
and tom is correct there, although when you say "it has nothing to do with you eating to much or not doing enough excersize." well, thats not totaly true realy is it, anybody can change how they are up to a certain point, yes genes play a part but you can still achieve things even if you are born naturaly larger... as you can do certain things that target your needs better

Thanks Eilidh and Tom!
Also DC, I agree that lack of exercise and poor diet does play a huge part in weight. It is so annoying how easily I put on weight, due to all the stuff Tom said about natural build. My brother's diet is just as bad as mine, if not worse, but he is stick thin because he does tonnes of exercise.

Wowzer this was a thread and a half to read. From reading through this pile of posts, I'd say you don't need to work on excercise or health or diet first, but your self confidence.. Have you ever tried martial arts? That totally improves your confidence - a few years ago I'd have never have attempted a kata with a jump in it infront of 100+ people, but now I can- and it does fitness at the same time too. I'd love to be in Tom land (or Coventry, as it says next to your post ) so that I could give these nutters in your french class a Leicester style talking to. Because really, when I start ranting I don't stop until people listen.
